The Story
Twisted Plants was born from a deeply personal journey — co-owner Arielle Hawthorne was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2016, which led her to go fully vegan, and she and husband Brandon eventually launched a plant-based comfort food trailer in 2019 to share that love with Milwaukee. What started as a wobbly food trailer (literally — the trailer disconnected from the hitch on their first outing) grew into a beloved Black-owned business with multiple locations. The Brady Street spot opened in summer 2022 and is now one of the two flagship locations after the Hawthornes chose to close their original Cudahy home base in late 2025 to focus their energy here.
Before You Go
It's counter service with seating for about 30, so expect a casual, quick-order vibe — not a sit-down experience. Closed Sundays, open Monday–Saturday 11am–8pm. Brady Street gets lively on weekends, so lunch hour and Friday afternoons can see a wait.
