Most ice cream drinks can be made vegan and lactose-free; the dairy-free swap uses a coconut/almond-based vanilla ice cream made from scratch, plus vegan whipped cream. Ask your server when ordering.
The Story
At Random started life as a corner tavern called Delaware Tap before Ron and Shirley Zeller purchased it in 1964, relaunching it as a mid-century cocktail lounge famous for ice cream drinks and icons like the Tiki Love Bowl and Fireman's Special. The Zellers stewarded it for over five decades, and in 2018 passed it to John Dye — the custodian of Bryant's Cocktail Lounge — who polished the Naugahyde booths and swag lights while keeping the time-capsule soul completely intact. It's the rare bar where the decor, the drinks, and the vibe have barely changed in 60 years, and that's entirely the point.
